Standing at the front of the engine compartment look to the rear right hand side you will see and aluminium engine support bracket with a rubber inner. Directly to the rear and slightly to the right is the gearbox dipstick with a yellow top. The most reliable method of checking the oil level is to do it cold. First start the engine and ensuring you hold the vehicle on the foot brake and do not touch the accelerator. Move the gear leaver through all gears positions to ensure that all the oil galleries are charged. Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean reinsert it fully and remove it again the level should be on the cold mark.
It is very important that the level does not exceed the cold mark as when the engine is hot the oil expansion will blow seals as is the case with all oil levels on the vehicle.
