In a word, yes.

It is still somewhat looked down upon by Psychologists today.

The reason being that Freud came up with theories that, while they were revolutionary, cannot be proven by scientific methods and thus have been labeled as too abstract and unscientific.

He also coined a theory known as the Psychosexual stages of development. Which, to this day, spawned outrage in many people who dismiss the theory completely.

This theory basically discussed childhood sexual drives and stages of learning based on these.

At the time this theory was published sexual drives and desires were very much a taboo subject. Therefore suggesting that even children have a sexual instinct was an appalling idea to the general masses.
