No. You can say that he was a Tuscan (from the region of Tuscany) and a Florentine (city of Florence). He was born just outside of Vinci which is a province of Florence.

Early on, Leonardo used to refer to himself as Leonardo the Florentine, however, as we now know, that name didn't really catch on.

Leonardo da vinci is not Roman. He is Italian. He was born in Vinci, Italy. That's why he WA scalled Leonardo da Vinci.
