Jason was picked on by the other campers that he couldn't swim, so to prove them wrong he went into the lake at night and drowned while the counsillers were partying and drinking, having sex, etc. His mom blamed it on the camp people, and snapped and started to murder them, then she died, and Jason escaped and found his mother, and made a shrine around her head, and kills anyone who comes to Crystal Lake, he's kills them to 'protect' the lake.

∙ 12y agoIn very quick summation; it is the story of a mentally distraught mother who lost her handicapped son, Jason, when he was a child due to a drowning accident at the Camp at which she worked. She blamed his death on his inability to swim well and the carelessness of the camp counselors on staff that day to acknowledge that and to keep good watch on him as she was the Camp's cook. She then broke mentally and vowed to avenge Jason's death by killing all the Counselors at the lake, which then included anyone at the lake since they were all responsible as far as she saw it. Mayhem ensues and ultimately a showdown between the mother and a girl results in the mother being beheaded by a machete, and afterward the girl drifts in the adjoining lake in a canoe and then is ripped down into the water by a gnarled and rotted boy, Jason. She then comes to and is in a hospital. She never got pulled down....or did she??? They then end the movie on a shot of the lake once more and there appears to be small bubbles forming on the top of the water.
