Isaiah was a prophet in the Old Testament. He prophesied around 740 - 690 BCE. He is generally considered to be the greatest of the prophets.

He called people to to turn from lives of sin and warned them of God's judgement and punishment. Isaiah also prophesied about the coming Messiah. He prophesied 700 years earlier that a virgin would give birth to a baby the Prince of peace, Emmanuel.He also foretold of the trial of Jesus , and that Jesus would hold his peace and not utter a word , when on trial.

The only thing Isaiah did to become a prophet was to answer God's call and then do as he was told. God did the rest.

No, there were three prophets of God who followed Isaiah. Micah, Hosea, and Jeremiah. Hosea was from the Northern Kingdom, Micah and Jeremiah were from the Southern kingdom.
