His son gets sick, and Kino finds a giant pearl, which is seen as a sign of salvation for his family. Soon, the pearl corrupts Kino, as it reflects greed and unnecessary wealth. Kino throws the pearl away, deep into the ocean. story tells about how his discovery of the most wonderful pearl in the world shatters his happiness
