Someone who works with wood is a woodworker. A carpenter is someone who uses wood. Although the two can be intertwined they are different.

WOODWORKING vs. CARPENTRY - WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE ?Woodworking is commonly considered the design and building of custom wood projects such as marqetry, parquetry, kitchen cabinets, passage doors (exterior and interior), tables, desks, entertainment centers etc. It requires exact measurements, fine finishes and an eye for good design.

Carpentry relates to constructing wooden or metal forms for concrete foundations (for bridges, towers, and buildings), pouring and finishing concrete, rough framing, roof structure manufacturing and installation, installing doors and windows, constructing outdoor decks and/or gazebos, laying floors, installing interior trim (like in elevators), installing acoustical ceiling tiles, and re-modeling institutional as well as residential buildings. These all require unique skills in and of themselves which also require exact measurements.
