Look beyond the biblical account and the Euro-centric interpretation of that account. Actually the first modern humans were black-skinned people who evolved in Africa over two hundred thousand years ago.
Two hundred thousand years is long enough for people to adapt to different environments. For example, black skin is a disadvantage in Europe, where the sun is too weak for dark skin to produce enough vitamin D. Light coloured skin absorbs more sunlight and can produce more vitamin D. Similar evolution took place in Asia and then, more recently, the Americas.
