first remove the viscus fan off the water pump mark it up first so the holes go on the same studs they came off.
looking on the front of the engine there is a light alloy tensioner that has a smooth face round the pulley, there is a 14 or 15m bolt head on this. What you need to do is put a ring spanner on this bolt and then pull it clockwise { it is very hard to move with just a spanner } What I do is fit the ring spanner on the bolt head then get a socket and extension bar on the open end of the spanner to give extra leverage.
Once there is enough slack on the belt remove it off the pulleys.
Refitting is the same as removal I find it easier to put it on the alternator last.
