Yes it is highly likely that this is the case. Peer pressure is the pressure of someone wanting to be part of a group or stay in the crowd and they feel if they don't they will lose their friends. What kind of friends would pressure them anyway? So when their friends start smoking they are pressured into doing it and eventually get addicted.
