The first test may not have had a large enough or strong enough sample. Since you did the separate brand, and it came back negative, you should not be pregnant. But, if you have had unprotected sex less than three weeks ago, a pregnancy may not be producting enough HCG hormone yet to give you a positive on a test.

it most definatly can!. on Saturday last i tested negative. Then on Sunday i took another test because i just didnt feel right and there was a second line, to be honest it was very faint and my period was due on Wednesday. im far too impatient to wait to be honest so i went and bout a first response test. These too showed faint positives but the line is getting stronger as the time draws near. First response can tell you up to 4 days before your period. My period was due today (Wednesday) and nothing. So im guessing that those 7 faint positive results i had told myself were evaporation lines were indeed positive test results. So yes, i would say, congratulations!. it is indeed very very possible for this to happen.

However i should add, if your reading off the same test stick then no, you need to try with a new test. you shouldn't read the results off a test stick after the alloted time is over, otherwise you can get whats called an evaporation line. it is well worth in this case taking another test.

I would say "yes". My doctor once told me that although you can get false negatives (due to the pregnancy hormones being at a undetectable level) its pretty unlikely that you would get a false positive. Unless you tested from some urine in a container that had been previously used by a pregnant person (the traces of the pregnancy hormone are really strong) then the positive result can not be incorrect.

Go see your doctor!! Chances are you are pregnant.

Congratulations and Good Luck!!

Neither - you should wait a day or two and take another. Keep in mind, false positives are very rare - a false negative is more likely, so there's a good chance the first one was right. But the only way to know is to check again!

Pregnancy hormones are most detectable in the first morning urine because the urine (and all components in it) are concentrated. Early in pregnancy, you should only do the test in the morning. After a few weeks, the hormone level should increase enough to be detected at any time of the day or night. Just redo the test in a few days or a week.

I'm no expert of course, but the likliness of a false negative is far greater than the likliness of a false positive. I'd suggest waiting 5-7 days and re-testing =]

If you've had one positive and one negative I suggest you get another test.
