freedom of speech; freedom of press; freedom of assembly - That answer lists 3 rights that are mentioned, but the First Amendment, being strictly as restrictive clause, did not grant nor could it guarantee any rights. It was written days after the Ninth, which had the people retain rights, including all of those that were mentioned, in the Declaration of Rights in all States by 1776-1777. The First Amendment---prepared later---simply banned the government from abridging or cutting short the rights already in place. If there was any kind of guarantee in the First Amendment, it was that the government would not cut short these rights, but it has not kept this guarantee, particularly the one that would not prohibit the free exercise of religion.

There are actually five. Take your choice: * Freedom of religion * Freedom of speech * Freedom of the press * Freedom of assembly * Right to address the government for redress of grievances The actual wording is "Congress may make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government redress of grievances."

The five rights in the 1st Amendment include freedom of the press, freedom of speech, right to peaceably assemble, and free exercise of religion. The last is respecting the establishment of a religion.

1. Freedom of Speech

2. Freedom of press

3. Freedom of religion

My reasoning behind these choices are that without them we would be more like North Korea or China.
