Best Answer

1. Operation Barbarossa - June 1941 German invasion of Soviet Union. This brought The Soviet Union into the war.

2. Operation Overlord - June 1944 Allied invasion of mainland Europe. This opened a second front against Germany ( they were already fighting the Soviets in the East ), and caused the Germans to split their forces and resources.

D-Day and Pearl Habour in my opinion as the british were able to get onto the french soil and the Americans joined in after pearl harbour - but it is down to opinion to be fair

D-Day is Operation Overlord 6th June 1944!

The Americans would have joined the war in Europe anyway, with or without Pearl Harbour. My original answers are facts, my last comment is an opinion - there is a difference!
