Main off and still have water flowing?
You will get some back pressure from the water heater. It will come out of either the hot or cold. Shut the tank off if there is a shut off there.

At the meter there should be a shut off on the house side. May be like a regular house faucet, may be one that requires a crescent wrench to turn. This type is a quarter turn …type and may have an ear sticking out with a hole in it so that when closed it can be pad locked. There should be a shut off on the city side also, but these usually need a special key to shut off. Sometimes, an 11/32 6 point, 1/4 inch drive scocket will fit on the city shut off, sometimes.
With the water main shut of valve of course
Terrible idea as the water is heated and the valves are closed there could be a very dangerous build up of pressure and temperature as the T&P is the only safety on these pote…ntial bombs. Install an expansion tank at water heater on cold water line to handle pressure buildup.
The water does not flow through the radiator until the engine is at operating temperature. At that time the thermostat will open and allow it to flow.Sometimes you are unable …to see it, depending on the direction of flow. Increase the engine rpm and you should notice a change.
Valves under the sink NO WORK HUH?
What could the the cause of water to quit flowing to washer machine it is not the inlet screens or the washer only way to get water back is to turn off at main then turn on a faucet?
This is just a guess. If only the hot or the cold stops and not both of them, it might be that the washer in the shut off valve has come off and is plugging the line. When y…ou shut off the main and then open another faucet, the back pressure in the line pushes the washer out. If this is the case, the washer should still be in the shut off valve. Turn off the main and take the stem out of the faucet. The washer should be the valve.
Most common places in a house is in the basement. Either on the wall closest to the street or in the furnace room. If on the front wall, it can be anywhere on the length of …the wall probably 2 to 3 ft. above the floor. There is also one at the meter, but this one may need a special wrench to turn it, also they can be very stiff. If you do not have a basement, I would look next to the furnace and hot water heater.
If everything is connected and working correctly, there shouldn't be (probably). The purpose of a switch is to interrupt current. -Is this new? Has it been wired correctly? A…re you sure? -How are you measuring this? Is the amount of current flowing within the error margin of your measuring equipment? Are you measuring correctly? -Is there a "night light" feature to the switch (LED/small light that will always be on when the switch is off)? -Is this a dimmer switch? Is it actually off, or just turned down so the lights don't appear to be one? -Is current balanced between the neutral and the phase wire (ie do you have something causing a low magnitude ground fault)?
No water to outside faucet - have checked for shut off valve to this faucet and removed the whole spigot assembly and still cannot get water flow?
If you have steel pipes, they can be rusted inside to the point they plug. If you took the spigot assembly off this means there was just the pipe showing. If you just took the… handle and stem out, the stem may have broke and the end with the threads and washer is still screwed in the base. If you can see the plumbing line inside the house, follow it back to the first junction. Steel pipe tends to rust more at the fittings.
Why is there still a trickle of water in your kitchen faucet when main valve shut off - no trickle anywhere else?
Water is coming down from upstairs or it is back pressure from the water heater. If it is the water heater, it can come out of either side of the faucet.
That really depends upon the river. In a large river, only the upper layer freezes and the water still flows underneath, but a smaller river might freeze completely. The tempe…rature is also a factor, as well as the size of the river. At colder temperatures, larger rivers can freeze completely.
In Water Pumps
Showers and tubs do not usually have shut off valves on the supply lines. To shut the water off you will have to shut off the main water line. There should be one on the cold …water line to the water heater. This may shut both the hot and cold off or just the hot. There will be one in the main line coming into the house on the basement wall closest to the street or at the water meter.
If everything is working as it should then no current flows when the breaker is off. This is no better example of this than there is on answers. When a do it yourselfer looks …for an answer and gets one, the answer is always ended with the suggestion that before doing any work always shut off the breaker. If the breaker is malfunctioning one symptom is that a voltage is still present even though the handle is in the off position. If this is the case change the breaker out immediately.
