Most male canines shoulld be Able to sire offspring around 6 months. It is responible to wait until at least 1-2 years prior to using a male dog as a stud. There is no set rule, but once your dog has reduced interest in female dogs in heat or starts having physical ailments (hip problems, Arthritis, etc.), you should stop. However, even a dog that is no longer used for breeding will make a terrific pet and companion--so be sure you give him a good life even after he stops breeding. (If for any reason you can't do that, your local pound or SPCA can typically place a Labrador retriever in a loving new home within a couple of days.)

How about adopting a pet from a shelter instead of profiting off animals.
Please consider spaying your dog. There are thousands of animals being euthanized every day due to over population. This includes many, many purebred dogs. Spaying will also lower your dogs chances of getting ovarian cancer. If that isn't enough, look up whelping. Is that really something you want to do?
If all that didn't convince you not to breed, then please at least make sure you get your dams hips, elbow, and eyes certified, as well as the sires. The is utterly no sense selling subpar dogs that will end up in a shelter at the first sign of blindness or joint problems. Unless of course you are truly so selfish for cash that you don't care your puppies go to good homes.

Often a bull should stop breeding either if he's too old and not fertile enough any more to be used, or if he's become too aggressive and dominant with his handlers to be considered a keeper anymore. There really is no defined age when a bull should stop breeding.
