Simple solution but not eco friendly is to spray with an aerosol air freshener.
Burn incense sticks in whatever aroma you prefer.
My preferred method is to burn a tea candle in the special candle holder and place a few drops of concentrated aromatic oil in water above it. The resulting evaporation of scent into a room is pleasant and delightful depending on whichever aroma is chosen. For freshness, citrus or lavender. For sweetness, vanilla.
Eco friendly place dishes of potpourri strategically through the house - not overly effective.
If you live at ground level plant aromatic plants such as jasmine and lavender in close proximity to the windows and you will always have wonderful scent throughout the house. I also crush fresh herbs from the garden such as rosemary and lavender to spread a good scent.
Burning branches of sage purifies, drives out negative energy and freshens the air.
Fragrant flowers can be used to scent the air such as carnations, geraniums and Christmas Lilies (Lilium Longiflorum) and of course scented roses.
