It takes two parents to produce a child but it takes an entire village to raise a child should the community have some responsibility to make sure all kids turn out ok?

A community is not what it used to be. Once upon a time everyone in a neighborhood new and communicated with each other. That just isn't how it works anymore. I think adults do have a responsibility to be there for the children in their lives though rather they are their own or not. They cannot be a replacement for the parent, but they can still have a positive influence. It is good for a kid to know they have people they can go to if they get into some sort of trouble or just need to vent.
