Best Answer

All heteroatomic molecules are polar it depends on the structure of overall molecule to know whether the whole molecule is polar or not, water is polar cuz dipole between Hydrogen and Oxygen and that between Oxygen and lone pair don't cancel each other.

Hydrophobic molecules do not dissolve in water. This is because water is hydrophilic. Another way to say this is that lipids, which are nonpolar, cannot dissolve in water, which in polar.

Is vitamin A nonpolar?

Yes, vitamin A is a type of nonpolar molecule. Like other nonpolar molecules, it is insoluble in water and soluble in fat.

What Can Water Not Dissolve?

While ionic compounds and polar molecules dissolve the best in water, nonpolar molecules do not. Example of a such nonpolar substance: oil. Oil forms clumps or beads in water because the nonpolar molescules are shoved together. Why? The water molecules are more attracted to each other than to the nonpolar molecules.

Why iodine is more soluble in cl but less soluble in water?

Iodine is not soluble in water because iodine is nonpolar and water is polar. According to the "Like dissolve like" expression, nonpolar substances are soluble with nonpolar substances and polar substances are soluble with polar substances, but nonpolar substances are not soluble with polar substances.
