It depends on the brand. If it is full of high fructose corn syrup or hydroginated oils? No. Some flavored brands have higher sugar levels, but if you watch your sugar levels, or, like I do, keep a 'Sugar top' I.E. count sugar levels and don't go over a maximum, it is a very high protein and satisfying food.

So, yes. Contrary to popular belief, beef jerky is healthy. If you're still wary though, go for the turkey jerky. Tastes about the same.

I think I know what you mean. I was worried about this, too. Jerky is not cooked meat in the usual sense. Sometimes the process doesn't involve cooking at all, only drying. But this can be dangerous because of the presence of live bacteria or parasite larvae in the meat. Homemade jerky has led to some serious illness, especially when wild game is used.

At this link, you'll find out that the recommended practice is to heat the meat to at least 160 degrees F at SOME point in the preparation process. This apparently makes the dried meat safe to eat.

Anything without soy sauce is typically healthier than those with it because soy sauce naturally contains MSG.

No one flavor is the healthiest though, you should rather look at meat types and brands.

This product is generally considered the healthiest.

Beef jerky is good because of the taste, whether it is of the meat itself or of the marinade and flavorings it was made with.

Yes, very nutritional: high in protein and low in cholesterol.

Also no chemical preservatives like store bought beef jerky has.
