If a pathological liar wants help, I mean really wants help. then yes there is help, But often they begin to believe their own lies so much. that they don't even relize that they are lieing, and if they don't relize that they are lieing. then they cannot relize they need help.
This is difficult, firstly the person in question needs to realise they have a problem, and it doesn't matter how many times someone else tells them, they need to arrive at the realization on their own terms. Mostly liars seem to think their behaviour is normal, of course it depends on the person. Does the liar acutally believe his own lies? Or are they simply willing to go to any lengths to try and convince others of his liars - regardless of the consequences, this is often the difference between a pathological liar and a compulsive liar. If they finally do realise they need help, then approaching a doctor would be the first step, as they will recommend further treatment, probably with a psychiatrist. Unfortunatly there is no easy cure, and no pills that will really help, the only way for them to stop lieing is to discover the reason behind their actions, it is a long and difficult road but if they are determined they can beat this.
Answer it is dificult, and most of the time it takes professional help, but i believe that as long as the person has someone devoted to helping overcome their illness, than they can do it. it takes a lot of work and sometimes many years but it is defenitly overcomeable.
Take everything that they say with a grain of salt.(Don't believe anything they say) To get them help, you can call your local mental health clinic and they should be able to evaluate them and get them treated.
The question is: What can you do for the VICTIMS of pathological liars? since there is NOTHING you can do for the pathological liar. In fact, the more you try to help them, the more they use THAT information to become better liars. PLEASE keep an eye on them and who they're conning. They can be VERY destructive. They can ruin peoples' lives, and if allowed to impregnate someone, or become impregnated BY someone, may VERY WELL produce another offspring who will leave more distruction in their path for the next generation and the next generation ad infinitium.............Do not allow them to reproduce at all costs.
Sounds a little odd, but works.
1. Look down at your nose for 3 complete seconds.
2. Stare at your wall for 30 minutes. Make sure that is the only think your focusing on and your not thinking about anything else. This helps relax you and remove all anger out of your body system.
3. Do this at least twice a day. When you wake up and before going to sleep.
4. Every time your about to say a lie, bite your tongue, and stop yourself.
5. If none of this works I suggest talking to a physiologist.
The first 2 steps will gradually work. You have to give time and patience. Over time you will see improvement in your pathological lies.
counseling. There are Liars Anonymous much like any other Twelve Step fellowship as well if you live in a large city there is greater chances that there is one in your area.
Yeah. Get rid of the pathologically credulous and the liars will have no one to fabricate to.
As far as is now known, pathological lying is not treatable.
There is no correlation between pathological liars and sexual orientation.
It would be nice if there were! The only treatment for pathological lying is therapy. Unfortunately, most pathological liars are not interested in being cured. They do not think there is anything wrong with them.
No not usually

No, typically pathological liars are not not aware of the fact that they are lying constantly. And, often times they believe their own lies. However, we can't mix pathological liars with diagnosed disorder with a person who lies to protect himself/herself.

Pathological liar
Individuals may tend to do that in general - pathological liars really have no bearing on the situation. Where a pathological liar is concerned it totally depends on the individual themselves.
Yes, pathological liers do know that they are lieing, although sometimes the lie does get to the extreme and to the point where they can begin to believe thier lie. But most of the time they do know that they are lieing.
