I am unsure what you mean by bypass.
The Air Conditioning system will not work with out the compressor.
The compressor can be disabled by unplugging the electric clutch.
Most of these little Fords could have a different length belt fitted so the compressor pulley didn't turn at all.
It takes an 82 inch five grove belt.
No you can not bypass the ac pulley but you can by a bypass pulley at the part store for about 40$. I just got one for my 2006 ford taurus the ac pump locked up and burned my belt it can take a while to put on but its worth it if you dont mind not having your ac working.
If there is a bypass pulley you'd have to go to a dealer to get it. You can remove ac compressor and get a short belt bypass it that way. Same belt routing minus the ac. I just did my 2004 Ford Taurus used a 8206k belt. was a lil hard to get on or maybe I'm a wimp.AnswerGo to www.dormanproducts.com and look up an A/C bypass pulley for your vehicle. Then go to www.rockauto.com to buy it.
they make a a/c compressor bypass pulley assy. you can get them at most parts stores. if you cant find one call summit racing. 1-800-230-3030
You can unplug any electrical power to your a/c and render it useless. This also will work if you keep it shut off inside.
No.
yes
I'm the one asking the question
On a 1996 Ford Explorer : The air conditioner compressor is on the drivers side of the engine , it's at the front of the engine and isone of the accessories that is driven by the serpentine belt
The air conditioner dryer in your Ford Explorer, is located on the top of the air conditioner compressor. The dryer should be labeled.
