The lifter's are all the SAME. the push rods are what is DIFFEERENT. Some are longer the the others. They MUST be put in the right place are you will bend a valve as soon as the engine turns over.
by the lower intake manifold while you are doing this you should replace the intake manifold gasket anyway because it will leak sooner or later.
Yes
Intake manifold on top and exhaust manifold on the side.
The intake valve is bigger.
Your exhaust lines up with exhaust pipes ,your intake lines up with your intake runners.
Can you bolt on earlier heads/intake/exhaust manifolds.. from a 1970 Pontiac 455 to this 76 455 engine.
Many ways. Pontiac 400 has a cast aluminum timing cover, that mounts the water pump directly on it, Chevy 400 has a stamped steel timing cover, water pump mounts to the block. Pontic 400 has fuel pump on the drivers side, Chevy is on passenger side. Pontiac has a separate valley cover below the intake manifold, Chevy intake IS the valley cover. Pontiac distributor does not go through the intake manifold, Chevy does. Pontiac has 10 head bolts per side, Chevy has 17. Pontiac has long exhaust ports that bend 90 degrees from the side of the cylinder head, Chevy exhaust ports end at the face of the cylinder head. Pontiac spark plugs are above the exhaust manifolds, Chevy is below. Pontiac 400 is physically larger than the small block Chevy 400 also.
The intake manifold is where the air and fuel mix and enter the engine. The exhaust manifold is where unspent gas and air exit the engine. In other words the intake manifold is where the engine breathes in and the exhaust manifold is how the engine exhales out.
Exhaust fan is only use for exhaust the old air, while ventilation fan is use for both purpose intake and exhaust.
The exhaust lifters will line up with the exhaust manifolds,Remove the valve cover if your working on a V8 and the valve that lines up with the exhaust port will be the exhaust valve,If it is a Chevy V8 they will be from standing in front of the car exhaust, intake, intake, exhaust, exhaust, intake, intake, exhaust.
Exhaust are longer than intake. Exhaust goes thru the loop in the gasket, intakes set outside gasket.
look at the head with the valve cover off find where the exhaust manifold goes in tha is the exhaust valve or looking at the valves the first one is exhaust then intake then intake ,exhaust, exhaust, intake, intake, exhaust if you have the head off i think the intake valves are bigger than the exhaust
