Does the Kindle Fire have a screen that can light up for reading in the dark?

Unfortunately, the kindle does not have a backlight, although it would be handy to have if you are reading at night. The rest of the kindle makes up for it though. It has many amazing features, such as wireless connection and amazing books!

∙ 14y agoNo, it does not. You read it as you would a book. It causes considerably less eye-strain, but it means you'll need to keep a light on if you're reading at night.

∙ 14y agoNo the Kindle is not back-lit. However, with a book light, you can read on your kindle just the same as if you were to use a book light with a regular book.

There are several accessories designed for the Kindle, and you can purchase a lamp if you wish to read at night.

No, the Kindle Fire doesn't read to you. You may want to get one of the regular Kindle for that. Also, if your main purpose is reading, the e-Ink screen of the Kindle Touch works much better than the LCD screen of the Fire; it won't bother your eyes, over time, as the back-light LCD screen will do.
