Only reason not to is because you get wet and muddy. The seeds love it.
On sunny dry days I prepare the seed bed to the depth it needs to be for the particular seed and use a watering can with miracle grow to wet the bottom, lay the seed in and cover. I then water the top cover well.
yes, infact the water in the soil helps the seed to sprout, just make sure that you don't over water.
How to put a seed in the ground:
1. Get a seed
2. Put your thumb in the ground; making a small hole.

Seeds grown in moist soil will have a higher likelihood of germinating due to the recognition of a prosperous habitat.
You do not have to, you can grow the seeds just by putting them in moist soil. Germination helps determine if the seeds are good or bad.
They live in moist areas because they depend on water for reproduction. In order for the sperm to reach the egg, it needs to "swim" through droplets of water. These plants, although they are vascular, don´t produce seeds but spores and they too need moisture to germinate.
To germinate bamboo seeds, soak them in warm water for 24 hours to soften the hard outer shell. Then, fill a seedling tray with well-draining soil and plant the seeds about 1/2 inch deep. Keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged, and place the tray in a warm, bright location. Germination may take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.
To survive over long periods, plant seeds are dedicated. Water has to be added back to the dry cells for the life processes to resume.
It takes nearly a week

Because seeds will not germinate in arid soil.
hyphae
germinate
They germinate better in moist compost in the right conditions.
Seeds sown deeply in soil, fail to germinate because of lack of oxygen. Ploughing aerates the soil and helps in good germination.
If the tissue paper is moist, corn seeds will germinate
If moisture affects the germination of seeds, then seeds kept moist will germinate, while seeds kept dry will not.
