I have just been given a prescription for Mefenamic Acid this morning and read the side effects leaflet carefully from start to finish. It just says to NOT take this drug in the last 3 months of pregnancy. It doesn't state not to take at all if pregnant. Although, if you are pregnant then to consult with your doctor. Also says it may reduce your chances of becoming pregnant if taken whilst trying to conceive. Hope this helps.
Mefanamic acid is classified as category C by FDA which means that it is not safe during pregnancy It is associated with infertility and premature closure of ductus arteriosus
When in pain during pregnancy you can take Tylenol but always consult your doctor when you take medicine.
In late pregnancy, as with other NSAIDs, Mefenamic Acid should be avoided because it may cause premature closure of the ductus arteriosus.

Amoxicillin is a type of penicillin that is prescribed to treat bacterial infections. Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that relieves pain and inflammation. Apparently, these drugs should not be taken together because of the potential for a significant interaction.
You can get Tranexamic Acid and Mefenamic Acid from your doctor (some pharmacies may stock these too), both can reduce menstrual flow by up to 50% if taken three times per day for the first three days of your period. If your period is excessively heavy you should talk to your doctor to make sure there is no underlying health problem causing the excessive bleeding.
