Stratford is a scam. Stratford Career Institute is not an accredited learning institution, therefore the "diploma" you receive is not likely to be recognized or honored by an employer or college/university. There have also been numerous complaints about fraud, theft, false charges on credit cards, and failure to give refunds when they were supposed to.

A career institute can be an excellent solution for someone who is continuing their education or who is looking to focus on a specific area of study. One of the most important things to consider when choosing a career institute, however, is whether they are an accredited institution and how long they have been operating. This is because there are many non-accredited institutions that might seem legitimate, but that offer no real education credentials at all.
You cannot get your GED with Stratford. GED programs are usually run by the state. Check with your local schools, or colleges with the GED programs.
The Stratford Career Institute is legit as long as you realize that this is not a university or college. This is a learning aid to prepare you to enter into an accredited course. You will get a diploma but it is only a piece of paper. None of your "classes" will be recognized. Any of the courses I have seen seem to be developed very well and will give you an idea what the degree course will consist of and if you wish to go for the degree. As a prep course they are very useful. Also note that they are an end in themselves if you are looking to improve your own personal life. eg, taking an accounting course so you can do your own books. (I am not affiliated with any college, I have completed 4 distance learning courses)
NO! Dont waste your time or your money! None of your credits will transfer and you will have to start from scratch like I did.
It depends on how much time you have to study and complete your exams. If you have a lot of time and can study quickly, you could complete the entire course in six months, but Stratford gives you up to two years to complete a course. That's one of the best things about Stratford Career Institute, you can study at your own pace!
There are several accredited HVAC schools across the country. Some of them are as follows : Everest College, Virginia - Redstone College, Colorado - ATI Technical Institute, Texas - Air Conditioning Techinical Institute , Nevada - YTI Career Institute, New York - Penn Foster Career School , Online and Distance Learning. There are several hundred accredited HVAC schools across the nation. I would suggest that you compare the programs at www.refrigerationschool.com.
This comes right from Stratford's listing on Wikipedia.org "...graduates wishing to further their education at a school other than Stratford Career Institute should check with that school to determine if their course work is transferable." Some schools will accept a Stratford diploma, but others will not. Your best bet is to check with the institution in which you are interested in attending. Sorry I couldn't be more clear, but the choice really is up to the accepting school. Here is Stratford's wiki listing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stratford_Career_Institute And here is their web page: http://www.scitraining.com Hope this helps. Best of luck to you in your studies.
