Shredding wood is only a physical change because the chemical composition is still the same. Even though the force of friction is involved the wood doesn't create and ash or smoking embers which is the chemical change of wood. Although some of the chemicals used to prevent un wanted damage to wood during manufactured shredding would add a chemical composition change to the wood unknowingly
physical, you are only changing its appearance! :P
Yes. Shredded paper is still paper. You have not changed its chemical composition.
No - it's a physical change. The paper is chemically the same whether it's a whole sheet, or been shredded.
because it only changes its appearance
Physical change
it changed from paper to paper.
Shredding paper is a physical change because you can put all the pieces of paper back together again, i.e. it is still paper. The chemical nature has not changed, only the APPEARANCE has changed.
Cutting down a tree. shredding of paper
ANSWER:Its a physical change. If you burned it and it became ash, its a chemical change. Physical change means it made no change on a molecular level. Its still paper, just in two separate pieces. It is a physical change, as the chemical property of the paper remains unchanged.
A physical change.
paper shredding
it changed from paper to paper.
physical, you are only changing its appearance! :P
because it only changes its appearance
because it only changes its appearance
Physical... Chemically it's still cheese - but the shredding changes its appearance.
physical, you are only changing its appearance! :P
Yes - and no.... Physically it's still paper - but the information on it can no longer be read.
Shredding paper is a physical change because you can put all the pieces of paper back together again, i.e. it is still paper. The chemical nature has not changed, only the APPEARANCE has changed.

I have a feeling that this is for homework, but whatever. Crushing stone, sawing wood and shredding paper are all examples.
A physical change is any kind of change that occurs in matter without changing its chemical composition. Examples of physical changes include melting, vaporization, sublimation, a piece of glass shattered into pieces, shredding paper.
