If the card is destroyed, you take damage equal to the number of counters x 1000 life points. The REALLY good news is that there are two good cards to change that last effect in your favor. These are: Prime Material Dragon (level 6, effect): Gain life points equal to the amount of damage you would have taken by a card effect. Barrel Behind the Door (trap): Active only when you would have taken damage by a card effect. Inflict the damage to your opponent's life points instead.
