Yes. Mitochondria are only present in eukaryotic cells where they are the sites of aerobic respiration and ATP production. In prokaryotic cells such as bacteria, respiration occurs on infolds in the plasma membrane called mesosomes.

Not all eukaryotic cells have mitochondria, but it is only in these "true" cells that you will find mitochondria. Why? Prokaryotes lack membrane-bound organelles, and the mitochondria has an outer protective membrane and an inner membrane where the ATP form of energy originates.
