First you need to understand what lighting is. It is electrons jumping from gaseous molecules/atoms to others. This occurs when static builds up in clouds do to uneven electron distribution.

in a conducting wire electricity is electrons flowing from atom to atom, not leaving orbitals.

if you touch a live wire it will feel hot as some electrons are passing through you a little. because organic matter is poor a conducting the electrons release heat as they loose energy as they slow down. This is what occurs in heating filaments. Electricity is passed through a peice of metal that has high resistancecausing heat to be dissipated.

If you are struck by lighting electrons will flow through you and release heat due to your resistance. This will cause you to be burnt, and because the electrons flow through your body you will probably receive internal burns to organs.

So, in short the answer is yes

Lightning averages about 30,000 degrees Kelvin, while the sun's surface temperature is about 5,780 degrees Kelvin. That means that lightning is more than 5 times the temperature of the sun.

The average lightning strike can reach temperatures of up to 30,255°K (~54,000°F/30,000°C). The surface of the Sun is about 5,778°K (10,000°F/5,500°C). So yes, lightning is over 500% hotter than the surface of the Sun. However, the core of the Sun is estimated to be around 15,000,000°K (27m°F/15m°C), which puts lightning at about 0.2% the temperature of the core of the Sun.

So yes, lightning is hotter than the surface of the Sun but not the core.

When lightning first strikes it is hotter than the sun, however it happens so fast that if someone does get struck, they dont automatically die. So long answer short, yes, lightning is hotter than fire.

1) if you concentrate on what it feels like when you get shocked, you feel that it is hot.

2)lighting storms have burned homes and caused forest fires
