Yes,..it's very possible. A reputable artist will have been through a training course on bloodborne pathogens and how to prevent contmination / cross-contamination. The process of tattooing involves breaking the skin, thus opening sterile parts of the body to an otherwise unsterile atmosphere. If in doubt , ask about the artists credentials, if he is "on the level" , he /she will be more than happy to show you certification.

The Only way you could get AIDs from a tattoo is if theneedle they used on you... was used on someone else who was infected with AIDs.... But in this day and age Negligence could shut down an entire business so they are careful and use new needles and have to open them in front of you to prove that it was never used and it sterile
