No it wouldnt. The reason why is all the snow would just melt in the water. Also all the rubble like (Trees) would just pile up and it would be a really mess.

To rescue people from an avalanche, you will need a shovel and a probe along with the location of the people. You can then dig the people out of the avalanche if possible. Sometimes helicopters with heat seeking radar are employed to find people lost in an avalanche.
