Take the type that have calcium, not the ones that use aluminum. Read the label. The calcium antacids are actually good for you. Always check with your doctor and/or pharmacist. Many if not most women suffer from heartburn in pregnancy and take calcium antacids, particulalry liquid ones.
Most doctors would say that its ok to take PeptoBismol. But they would strongly advise against anything else. They would also suggest that you not take more than 4-6 doses of it a day. And if its a condition that wont go away with you taking it to immediately see your doctor.
i don't know if you still need this answered but i was wondering the same question. I am 26 weeks pregnant and I have talked to the doctor and they say that Tums is the best thing you can take because is has a lot calcium in it and that your able to take as many as you need to relieve the heartburn. With Antacid i believe is just like Tums and has the same stuff in it especially the Calcium. I hope this has helped you out.
I was told it was safe to take Tums and was also given a prescription antacid when heart burn got really bad towards the end of the pregnancy. You should always check with your doctor though before taking anything when you are pregnant!

-Only From Personal experiance from when I went to the Emergency Room. The doctor asked me if I was taking antiacids. I told him I was on Tagament for my ulcers. He stated to me " That the lining of your stomache can thin from being on these antiacids and thus allowing more of the medication into your system faster and would appear to be stronger. That is only what they told me. matter of fact they removed me from that while taking the Percocet and Norcos. Hope this helps.
