Depends what you mean by "early pregnancy" since it doesn't start to shape until after the first trimester. Yes you can lose it in early pregnancy, or parts of it, and see your doctor if that is what you think. It regenerates though if you lose it early. If it was the mucus plug it should have been some brown or maybe even red in it. Sometimes the normal discharge (the milky white stuff) can hang up in the vaginal area and when it comes out it can be thick and clumpy.

HI, I am a mother of 2 3/4 meaning I already have two girls and am 35 weeks pregnant with my third :) As to your question....I ahev lost my plug with all three and never had alot of blood with it...The only time I had any blood was 5 minutes before i went into labor with my first child...I would say to kep an eye out and see if you start to bleed again if so i would recogmend getting it checked out...sometimes doctors don't take you all that seriously :) if not already pack your bags your in the last stages :) Good Luck,Rachel

Part of my mucuous plug began coming out when I was seven months along and continued to come out until right before I had my daughter. I also had braxton hicks contractions. My doctor told me as long as the plug was not bright red blood tinged and the contractions were not coming at regular intervals it was ok. I delivered a healthy baby girl at 39 weeks. However, every woman is different and you may want to consult with your dr. just to be on the safe side.
