I am a former paralegal. The simple answer to this is : No you can't, because, for you to do so you would need to legalize a death certificate and for you to do that you need a dead body. I highly doubt you can die and then come back to life. And there is a small draw back in doing so, assuming you could do this, once your legally dead, well..you can't claim any benefits of inheretance or the like.
The only possible way is for the government to declare you legally dead after a missing persons report has been filed and you coud theoretically ask a judge to declare you dead. But I would ask a lawyer about that, because like I said..there are drawbacks !

∙ 15y agoNo, it is not legal to fake a death anywhere in the USA. The charges you face depend on what purposes you were trying to benefit and/or how much trouble you caused in doing so.
