It is not against the law to attempt suicide in the UK.

Suicide and attempted suicide was a crime in England and Wales until 1961. Attempted suicide was (equivalent to) a misdemeanor but suicide was punished by the loss of the dead person's estate. The Church of England may still deny ordinary burial rites to certain suicide victims. However, please don't attempt suicide.

Nope the Suicide Act was created in 1961. Why should it matter, because the person would already be dead anyways. And it's the person's choice.

Assisted suicide however is illegal, and the 'assistant' will be charged with man slaughter.

Suicide (and attempted suicide) were decriminalized in England and Wales in 1961, subject to the condition that one commits or attempts to commit suicide alone, without any assistance and without any joint 'suicide pact'. Suicide is not a crime in Scotland, either. Please see the links.

It doesn't matter you are already dead. What are they going to do, take you to jail?

However, it might be illegal to attempt it.

Suicide is not against the law in the UK. It was until the 1961 Suicide Act which legalised it and introduced laws which dealt with assistance of suicide. Prior to 1961 suicide was illegal in the UK and was punishable by prison and fines (but not death!)

What does british law say about euthanasia?

In the UK, The Suicide Act 1961 defines assisting someone in the act of suicide to be a criminal offence. 'Euthanasia' itself is not a legal term in the UK as there are no laws relating to it, therefore cases of euthanasia are treated as either 'manslaughter' or 'murder' depending on the specific circumstances.
