Yes and no.
First generally speaking, it's not illegal to go door to door to ask for money. Usually this is accompanied by a service...BUT there is nothing that says you can't just ask for money.
However NEARLY ALL cities, townships, parishes, or what have you require a solicitation permit.
Therefore it is illegal to do so without the permit.
I believe this is a civil issue and not criminal, so if you knock on someones door and they call the police, they may write a ticket (if not just a warning) for not having a permit, but will not take you to jail.
If you do not have a good or service that you are selling...YOU SHOULD MAKE IT KNOWN that you are asking for a voluntary handout, donation, etc... Otherwise it may be misunderstood as an attempt at robbery. At which point criminal charges could be made, if a complaint is filed.
You would have to check the local laws of the jurisdiction in which you live. As a general rule it is not illegal to ask for anything, but you may have to register as a solicitor, or a charity - or for taxes - or something similar - in order to make it legal to receive money where you live.
Such as begging? No.
If you did a service and want to be paid for that service asking for money is not only socially acceptable but legal as well.
However asking for payment for giving a sexual favor is illegal in many states.
Another View: In most states of the US, activebegging (panhandling) IS against the 'public order' statutes.
Passive begging, such as sitting or standing on the sidewalk or at an interesection, WITHOUT approaching and actively asking for money IS allowed.
Question is too general. It may depend on what you're asking the money FOR?
no its not if your poor cause its the quickest and easyest way to get money
Yes, that's called stealing. Stealing is illegal.
Sort of...well who would want to eat money anyway!?
That would count as a pyramid scheme, and is illegal(not to mention immoral) in many places.
Dating is not illegal. If you are asking about having sex, then ask another question.
No, it is not. However, you must be sure to ask the person whether they wish to answer and if not, leave them alone (otherwise it is harrassment).
A vulnerable relative? There's definitely nothing illegal about it but it might be a little immoral if you're taking advantage of them. But nothing illegal about asking for money.
With a business lender you can ask for your money upfront because they are in the business of lending money. You will need to make sure the terms of the loan are clear.

Illegal drug money keeps money out of the economy of the country. The government can not tax illegal drug money.
