Coal Is non renewable. You can only use it once, and then it's ash.
Renewable means you use it today, like heat stored from the sun, and more heat still there tomorrow to store again. An example involves wood (burned directly) or crops (converted to ethyl or methyl alcohol or biodiesel and then burnt). These plants can be continuously harvested, used as a fuel and then be regrown (capturing and storing energy received from the sun) again. You can do this on a seasonal basis or whatever cycle length the plant's life cycle dictates (trees may take years to cycle, plants on an annual basis). This makes these plants 'renewable' energy sources while coal is not for reasons stated below:
While coal formation is occurring even today, it is for all practical purpose a non-renewable resource. Most coal that is being mined today is from plants that lived millions of years ago and have undergone changes that require geologic pressures and time. The forests that grew during the Carbonaceous Period from which most coal comes from dwarf today's forests and the dead plants built up into very thick layers to eventually compress into coal. Mankind's activities seldom allow for such thick layers of dead plants to occur today.
Coal is a nonrenewable resource because there is only so much coal in the ground, and when you dig it all out, there is no more. However, the quantity of coal that is available is very large. It is not running out soon.
Coal is non-renewable. Once coal stocks are depleted - there will be no more ! The same goes for oil and gas !
Coal, oil, etc. Also called fossil fuels.
Renewable source of energy means that this source is not exhaustible by its use in producing electricity or heat (steam) or mechanical energy. An example is solar energy. Using sunlight to produce electricity through special devices, called photoelectric cells, will not exhaust sunlight coming to earth. Fossil fuels like oil, gas, and coal are examples of nonrenewable sources of energy as they are exhausted by their use.
Fossil fuels are considered nonrenewable as they are the product of living things that died in the distant past.
Trees are renewable. You can grow a tree. Coal is not it is a fossil fuel.
No, its nonrenewable.
Coal is the dirties nonrenewable energy source
Coal is a nonrenewable resource, while pine trees are a renewable resource. As sources of energy, the difference between coal and pine trees is that coal is a nonrenewable resource, while pine trees are a renewable resource.
Yes, coal is a nonrenewable source of energy.
Nonrenewable.
Depends on where it came from. If this is mined coal( which it usually is) it's nonrenewable. If it is coal made from dead wood, this is renewable. We can always grow more trees.
Coal is a non-renewable resource.
Yes, coal is a NONrenewable energy source. It is running out rapdily, which is why we are trying to find alternative renewable ways to create energy, such as recycling and energy turbines.
Yes, coal is a non-renewable energy source. We use it faster than it is produced
yes
Fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) and nuclear power are all non-renewable energy.
