Best Answer

Yes. Yeast respire anaerobically by ethanol fermentation. This is different from the lactic acid fermentation in humans in that it produces copious amounts of ethanol and carbon dioxide rather than lactic acid. This production of ethanol and carbon dioxide makes yeast the organism of choice for the brewing of alcoholic drinks and bread-making.

Yes, yeast can perform both aerobic and anaerobic respiration. With aerobic respiration, oxygen is taken in. Once the oxygen flow stops, no more ATP can be made so the process of fermentation comes into effect.

It is a facultative anaerobe and therefore it can grow in both environments. The difference is not only the amount of oxygen but also the other types of nutrients that are needed in the anaerobic condition.

No' they don't. Yeast doesn't do aerobic respiration because yeast doesn't need oxygen.

Yes

Difference between Aerobic and Anerobic Activity?

Aerobic : If respiration takes place in the presence of O2, then it is called aerobic respiration/ aerobic activity. Eg: Plants and animals, protozoans, some bacteriaAnaerobic: IF respiration takes place in the absence of O2, then it is called anaerobic respiration/ anaerobic activity. Eg: Yeast, some bacteria

Between 65-70%

Aerobic (used to make bread) and anaerobic (used to make alcohol).

Aerobic Respiration

Differences between fermentation and respiration?

one uses oxygen to get energy and the other uses yeast!Fermentation does not need oxygen. Aerobic respiration need oxygen

What sugar does yeast prefer for aerobic respiration?

Glucose. It can also use sucrose and maltose, but much less than glucose.

What is the difference between aerobic respiration and anaerbic respiration?

Aerobic respiration: 1) Requires oxygen 2) Occurs in the mitochondria 3) Produces 38 molecules of ATP 4) Products are carbon dioxide and water in both yeast and humans 5) The glucose molecule is completely oxidised. Anaerobic respiration: 1) Doesn't requires oxygen 2) Occurs in the cytoplasm 3) Produces 2 molecules of ATP 4) Products are lactic acid in humans and carbon dioxide and ethanol in yeast 5) The glucose molecule is partially oxidised.

What molecule is used during aerobic respiration?

Cellular respiration can be aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic respiration requires oxygen, anaerobic respiration does not need oxygen.

What process in the mitochondrion?

It is called the respiration. Aerobic respiration takes place in it

How can yeast survive in the absence of air?

There are two types of respiration, aerobic and anaerobic. Yeasts are the one's which don't need oxygen to survive.
