Both Sesame Street and Sesame Beginnings are by Sesame Workshop, a non-profit television production company.

Beginnings was an attempt at a line of DVDs for babies and their parents, similar to Baby Einstein. The attempt drew flack from the media and advocacy groups, who argued kids shouldn't be watching TV until at least age 2, and no more direct-to-DVD products were made. That said, the picture book line continued production.
