Best Answer

It is an ionic compound that exists in crystalline form, and is soluble in water.

remember if you got a Metal and its combining with one of the halogens (IE Flourine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, Astatine) It will always be a salt ALWAYS, and ionic

NaI

NaCl

KCl

KI

RbBr

I could go on and on forever, but you get the point.

Na, being only an atom and not a molecule, should not be described in terms of polarity. Molecules need at least two different types of atom to be polar. If a yes or no answer is needed, go with nonpolar.

NaI or Sodium Iodide is an ionic bond because sodium loses its electron which is gained by Iodine and both have a complete outer shell.

This is a complete transfer of electrons hence an ionic bond.
