There are many different SAT scoring rubrics. Some add up to 2400. If this is the case, then 1500 on a 2400 point test is not very good. (I got a 1770 when I took it in 8th grade.)
1500-1600
A 1500 is the median score for juniors and seniors, so if you were a sophomore and you achieved this good grade, then you will hopefully have a bright future!
The maximum SAT score is 2400 (800 for each of the 3 sections). The average score for the SAT is about 1500, so in this case, an SAT score of 1540 is about around the 50th percentile - that is, about 50% of the scores were higher, and about 50% of the scores were lower.
A score of 1720 on the SAT is considered average. It falls around the 50th percentile of test takers. Depending on the colleges you're applying to, it may be competitive for some institutions while below average for others.
A score of 1730 on the SAT at 13 is quite advanced. Considering the average SAT score is 1500, taken by kids 4 to 5 years older than you, you are definitely in the vanguard. And, with so much time to really crack down on specific areas that need improvement, a stellar SAT score in your future college resume is promising. Good work!
