it is a day when we celebrate people who have fought for us (plus we don't have school or work!)
People in the US celebrate July 4 because it is the Independence Day holiday. They will celebrate with fireworks, beer drinking, bonfires, and parades that celebrate patriotism and freedom from government tyranny.
People celebrate armistice day because it was the day that world war 1 was declared over. It is also celebrated to honor people who fought in all wars and conflicts. We celebrate it to honor veterans who have served and died for us in war.
