∙ 10y agoMaoism is a form of Marxism, some would say that it is a genuine form of Marxism but most Marxists today would disagree. I would argue that Maoism is a form of Stalinism. One difference between Mao on the one hand and Marx and Engels on the other is that Mao agreed with Marx and Engels that violence is inevitable in a revolution but came to see the use of violence as something to be welcomed and something that should not really be avoided at all. Marx and Engels however thought that wherever possible violence should be avoided and problems should be solved by other means, though they openly acknowledged that if peaceful means were unrealistic and would result in some sort of a defeat for the revolution, then yes violence should be used ruthlessly.
