What is the difference between moving and merging alternates?

Merging an Alternate: Merging two questions with exactly the same meaning.Moving an Alternate: Move an already merged alternate from misplaced question to another question with exactly same meaning.

How many times are you going to ask the same question as to who invented the Microsoft Windows?

I suppose as many times as he or she wants until it's answered. This is of course where supervisors comes in, and deals with these questions and ends up merging them. Sometimes people will getfrustratedwith their question not being answered, and will create the same meaning-typed question with different wording.

What is the difference between merging answers and adding alternates on the WikiAnswers website?

Merging questions completely combines two questions together, this includes Related Links for both the questions, and alternate wordings, and is only done when two differently worded questions can have the exact same answer, adding alternate wordings to a question simply adds to a list of different ways to word that same exact question.

How do you split questions on WikiAnswers?

If you're editing the question, and when you hit enter, your edit matches an existing question, the system will give you the option of either merging or splitting.

Where is the fuse located on a class 2003 model for the hooter?

WikiAnswers is designed to provide a specific answer to a specific question. * Questions that do not contain enough information cannot be answered - asking "did he die?" or "how did she become rich?" cannot be answered because we do not know who you are asking the question about. * General questionsusually cannot be answered because it would take an entire website or a textbook to do that - questions such as "Explain biology" or "What are the names of all cars ever made?" are too broad to be answered. * Questions that require us to look at a picture or diagram that you have in front of you cannot be answered because we cannot see your assignment page. * Questions that must be answered with the questioners opinion cannot be answered by anyone except you - job application questions such as "Why do you feel you should work for this company?" or "Where do you hope to be in five years?" cannot be answered by another person. * Partial questions or question fragments cannot be answered - a sentence fragment such as "preparation for a position" or "pi plus" do not explain what your question is, and cannot be answered. * Questions that are actually statements cannot be answered because they are not questions. "You are in love with a boy and he does not know you exist" is not a question and cannot be answered. * Questions that should be asked in a chat roomcannot be answered because this is not a chat room. "Who are you?" or "What is your favorite color?" are not questions that can be answered on this website. The WikiAnswers Stylebook will help you write a proper question that can be answered for you. See related links below. Tip: Don't use pronouns such as he, she, it, them, their, his, her, its, and so forth in your question. Chances are, we won't know who she, he, them, and what it is and won't be able to answer your question. You must indicate the subject properly in your question. However, questions in which the subject is already indicated within it, may use those pronouns, ex: "When Miley Cyrus starred on Hannah Montana, how old was she?" is okay. If you believe that your question should not have been placed into this catch-all question, please contact a supervisor. A list is linked below under Related Links. ----Note to supervisors: This is a catch-all question. Neither it nor its alternate wordings should be removed. See related questions for more info about catch-all questions. Please note: some questions that are fragments or actually statements can be trashed instead of merged. This is a judgment call. Ask yourself if the fragment/statement could be asked by someone, somewhere, sometime in the future. If it could be, then merge it. If it wouldn't be, trash it. Before either trashing or merging, please attempt to rephrase the fragment into a real question. "not enough info" is a shortcut question to merge into.

Why are some questions listed as unanswered?

Not all questions are easily answered. Here are some reasons:Nobody really knows, like "Who was the first person to blow their nose?"The question is poorly worded or vague and nobody understands what the person wants to know, like "What happens when a client occurred in then I am damaged blood vessel?"The question has been answered several times already but the person asking it adds it as a new question instead of merging it with the hundreds of variations of the same question, like "How did World War 1 begin?"The question is too broad, like "What are the names of every animal on Earth?"The question is a multiple choice question and the choices are not given within the question, like "Which of the following are plants?" (You could ask "Which of the following are plants out of cactus koala sassafras or pin oak?")The question is just silly, like "Why do I like the smell of my own farts?"

This question was merged into the question where it belonged and answered properly. Un-merging it and asking it again is not going to get any different answer for it. How do you make citizens on WikiAnswers answer your question?

You can't make people answer your questions unless you use mind control. If you become a member of WikiAnswers, you can search the WikiAnswers community to find an experienced member who looks like they can answer your question. You can leave them a message on their board with a link to your question. This will increase the chance that they will get to your question quickly. Note: WikiAnswer contributors are constantly answering, merging, and organizing questions, so they may not be able to get to your question right away - so be patient. Also, take the time to place your question in the proper category where it is more likely to be answered. Otherwise it goes into the uncategorized section which contains a ~35,000 question backlog.

Why don't you get answers to some of your questions even simple ones?

This site is a wiki, which means that the questions and answers are written by people... any people at all. More people come to this site and ask questions than come to answer questions... because of that, there is going to be an imbalance between the number of questions that get asked, and the number of questions that get answered. A lot more questions get asked than get answered. Now, of course, we try to fix that through merging questions that are just being asked in a sightly different way, and many people answer a lot more questions than they ask. However, it still isn't going to balance out. Some questions aren't going to get answered. Now of course, more questions get answered that are written well and that are easy to understand... but if you are already doing that, maybe try writing during the day in the US when more people are on, so more people will have a chance to see your question? Try posting it on Facebook? Or, you could jump in and start answering some questions that you know or could look up. Maybe if more people do that, then more questions will get answers.

Why doesn't any question you ask here get answered?

How long did you wait for an answer? Although there are some "regulars" who cover certain topics, there's no dedicated staff hired to post answers. You'll get an answer when another user is interested in your question and decides to post one. What questions did you ask? This is the only entry from your IP, but that may be because you use a dial-up service or a school/library computer that does not reserve an IP address for you. If you ask a question that has already been asked, the regulars may be tired of repeating the same answer. If your spelling and grammar are so bad the question makes no sense, you are asking for an opinion (Do you think ... ?), or you want someone to write your history term paper, your post may disappear. Ask your question again. If the above post is an indication of how you ask questions, then maybe the question was unintelligible. Proof read your question before posting. "noone" is not a word. State that the question is from "noone" and I will try and answer.
