The doctrine of the Trinity is one of much controversy. It teaches that there is only one true God, the Father, from whom came the Son, the very Logos of God, through whom comes the Holy Spirit, the outworking power of God. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are each co-equal being fully God, and each is co-eternal.

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are not the same person, yet are the same essence, being one in essence. One God that has one inseparable nature, but is made up of three distinct persons.

The word "Trinity" comes from the Latin numbers "tria" (3) and "unus" (1), combined to designate three persons in one God. It is first recorded being by Quintus Septimius Florens Tertullianus (a.k.a. Tertullian) (160 - 225CE).

The Holy Trinity is a Christian dogma that the Church could not even make up its mind about until the fourth century. It is a definition of three persons in one God - the Father, Son and holy Spirit. There is no mention of the Trinity in The Bible, with the closest apparent reference being the "Johannine Comma" (1 John 5:7), which refers indirectly to the concept of the Trinity. This verse was not in the earliest Greek manuscripts until it appeared in a Latin copy in the fifth century. Although there is no biblical evidence for the Holy Trinity, it is central to what most Christians believe.
