The problem could be the ignition control module, but more often than not, when it cranks but won't start, it's that one or more coil packs has gone bad.
Sometimes, even though there IS spark leaving the cable, it's too weak to actually fire the plug properly.
Pull and test each plug wire (one at a time) by putting a screwdriver or similar object up inside the wire and holding the exposed metal near a ground so as to observe the spark that jumps the gap when the engine is turned over.
Simply put, an orange-colored spark is weak while a blue one is strong.
But don't completely rule out the lack-of-fuel possibility, either.
You can test the fuel pump by bleeding off the fuel system to relieve the pressure then cranking to see if it returns.
The bleeder valve is on the rear of the fuel rail under what looks like a tire valve-stem cap... try not to spill it all over the engine.
Could you have snapped your timing belt.
this could be due to a bad ignition modual in the disttibutor
could be your ignition modual
maybe ignition modual
There could be several reasons why a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville keeps dying. A couple of reasons could be a dirty air control valve or bad spark plugs.
It could lay with the computer control modual or the distributor and in some cases the trotle posistion sensor.
the ignition control module could be the problem
check your battery or your wires or control modual or the computer
possible ignition modual, what is your fuel presure, does car restart immediatly or after it sits for a while Possibly clogged fuel filter, or bad fuel pump.
Without knowing more it could be anything. Torque converter clutch could be stuck if it stalls at a stop sign. Carburator if it stalls after it warms up or when you mash the gas pedal. Points if its old enough. Shorted ignition wire ( coil wire or distributor power or ground ) if it happens in a corner or after you hit a big bump. Ignition modual if it does it in damp or hot weather.
== answer== Could be a bad ignition control module or coil, points if equiped, cap,or rotor, bad ignition switch.
sounds like the ignition control module
