Let you recruiter know that you are Declining Enlistment, they will make an attempt to change your mind and go with the original reason why YOU choose the Army (you can not go to jail, prison, be considered AWOL, loose Student Loan benefits or have any negative repercussions by declining your enlistment, you are just wasting your time, recruiters time and tax payers money). From there they will process the forms to have you discharged from the Delayed Enlistment Program (DEP). Keep in mind the Army or any other branch does not have to release you from your current contract until the day you are to ship for Basic Training. Then when your contract has been terminated contact the Air Force Recruiter and begin your enlistment process with them.
Many people swap branches and the decision is entirely up to you. If you aren't enjoying where you're at right now and think that the Air Force will be better for you, then you definitely should. Best of luck to you.
When your enlistment is up you can change to the US Air Force.
No, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1958.
The US Army, like the other US Military branches are an all volunteer fighting force, which means you have to volunteer to enlist. With your consent, being able to pass the ASVAB and physical you can then be enlisted into the Army.

The officer ranks are both the same. However the enlisted ranks are different. The Army also has Warrant Officers where as the Air Force does not.
