I am not 100% sure but you would probably need to go back to school and take the necessary classes and licensure to be able to practice independently. I am pursuing an M.Ed in School Counseling now and have wondered the same thing in case I decide later on not to work in a school setting anymore. I would do some research but I'm sure it's doable.
