It appears you are making a real effort to help yourself, and I know women can really get a guy down, but choking is simply out of the question and it is abuse. It's terrifying to say the least for the woman. I think you would have to contact your ex girlfriend and ask her the question you put on this board. Only she can answer it. If she agrees take it slow and easy and never lie to yourself ... if you don't feel you are over your rage and anger, please do these young ladies a favor and not date until you have your life more in control. The fact you are doing something about it is a great leap of faith on your part. I'm proud of you! So, phone up that girlfriend, and I would also suggest you take her to meet the counselor you are seeing so she knows you are telling the truth. She won't trust you for a very long time, so don't expect things to be as they were before for awhile. If you should date take her to public places, go out with your friends and don't expect her to come back to her place or even to be left alone with her until you have built up her trust. Marcy
